granny's brown bread

Ingredients:

  • 280g self raising flour

  • 100g wholemeal flour

  • 50g Super Milled Grains

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • 2 tsp bread soda

  • 60g of melted butter

  • 400ml of butter milk

  • 1 egg beaten

  • mix of seeds (optional)


Method:

  1. Preheat over to 185C/365F/gas mark 5.

  2. Grease heavy based pot (with lid) with butter to prevent bread from sticking.

  3. Sieve flours, baking powder, bread soda into a large bowl. Add Super Milled Grains, seeds and sugar and mix well.

  4. Gently add melted butter to the mix followed by the egg and combine well.

  5. Stir in the buttermilk.

  6. Add mixture to the pot and cover with lid. Place in the oven for 90mins.

  7. Place on a rack to cool before serving.
